Weekly Market Notes for August 09, 2012

Hello Market Friends:

Great selection this week for summer feasting or putting some by. The highlight has got to be Sosnickis' announcement:

"Our Sweet Corn is heading to Dufferin! You know, the all yellow obviously NO GMO awesome cobs!! Lots for all!! Also the Roma tomatoes are absolutely incredible this year. Here is the info again about how to order cases for sauce or canning: http://sosnickiorganicproduce.blogspot.ca/2012/07/its-time-to-order-your-certified.html?m=0 Also coming are lots of Peppers, Eggplants, Heirloom tomatoes (including the field Green Zebras and Black Cherry varieties!), Basil, fresh dug Spuds, Green Beans, Kale, Garlic, Sun Sugar Cherry Tomatoes, Red Onions and white Sweet Onions, Cucumbers too! " Ben & Jessie

There will be loads of fresh fruits and vegetables on our other growers' tables, too, it's boom time!

Primeridge Pure's on-farm retail store is becoming more and more successful, and they need to focus energy on developing that, so they won't be coming to the market anymore. We wish Steacy and her family every success, and will keep in touch as they grow their business. We'll let you know some options for finding their cream cheese in TO stores soon.

Tim Clement will be absent this week, and Exact Edge will be back to sharpen all your knives and tools.

TLTs? Yes! For your next sandwich, try YingYing Soy’s Smoky Deli Slices fried until crisp, heirloom tomato slices, lettuce, mayo, and s&p on toast. YUM! And if you don’t think you like tofu, Ming’s many varieties will make you think again.

Drop by for an ice cream cone or a fritter, to pick up something for the barbeque, bread, honey, yogurt, jam, eggs and baking for Friday's breakfast, or whatever strikes your fancy. And don't forget to bring along cookbooks you'd like to add to the box for next week's Cookbook Swap. You can pick up your swap tickets when you drop off your books.

See you at the market!
