Weekly Market Notes for March 03, 2011

Hello Market Friends:
Here's our news from the vendors for this week:

"After last week's breakdown of our farm van I'm looking double forward to Dufferin Grove this week. I'm just completing three long days of washing roots (see our facebook page for pics). Still lots of storage crops: carrots, parsnips, 3 types of beets, black and watermelon radishes, daikon, celeriac, sunchokes and of course rutabagas. This will be the last week for sunchokes, daikon and possibly rutabagas.
Please note that Greenfields will not be at the Market March 10 & 17 -I'll be bringing extra carrots for those of you who like to stock up." Lorenz

Something new from Blythe of Growing Spaces:

"It's been a long time coming, but I'm happy to say that our infused apple cider vinegar is finally ready! The organic apple cider has been aged in wood for the past year and then we have infused the vinegar with five different flavours including: Raspberry Honey, Lemon Ginger, Star Anise, Tangerine Basil, and Cucumber Dill. It has long been believed that apple cider vinegar has numerous external and internal health benefits from dandruff to digestion. Apple Cider Vinegar also breaks down fat and is widely used to lose weight. We recommend you try one of these infusions as a light salad dressing or even a tablespoon in the morning, and discover the healing powers of apple cider vinegar."

"Kind Organics will be there this week with our full range of sprouts and microgreens." Tamas and Sandra Dombi

Our full assortment of meats, cheese, coffee, baking, preserves, eggs, honey, tofu, seeds and more will be there, too.

Around the rink, you may see some extra lights and artificial snow, and inside, fewer of the usual Dufferin decorations. This is in preparation for a film shoot which will be taking place at the rink on Friday. Is this our fifteen minutes of fame? Well no, but it seems we have a rink that looks like it could be in New York. Who knew?

See you at the market!
