Weekly Market Notes for November 8, 2007

Hello Market Friends:

Happy Birthday to Us! Thanks to all of you for five years of wonderful support. The latest Dufferin Grove newsletter tells a bit of the story. Here are the links to read all about it: http://www.dufferinpark.ca/newsletter/wiki/wiki.php/November2007#marketanniversary http://www.dufferinpark.ca/newsletter/wiki/wiki.php/November2007#marketeditorial

Be sure to join in sharing our 5th birthday carrot cake (made with Greenfields' famous carrots, of course) at the market this week.

And speaking of Greenfields, here's the news:

"The snow was flying here at the farm. The crew pressed on digging Parsnips and harvesting the last of the Arugula and Parsley. Great selection of vegetables coming from our fields this week; Lutz Beets are sweet and tender, Brussel Sprouts, Red & Green Cabbage, bunched Carrots are delicious, juice Carrots are also available. Purple & Romanesco Cauliflower, Celeriac, Daikon Radish, Parsley Root, Parsnips, Rutabaga, Sunchokes, Squash and Salsify. Arugula, Parsley and Spinach round out the Greenfields-grown produce. Help Reduce our plastic bag use by purchasing a Greenfields Farm shopping bag. These bags are made locally in Peterborough with certified organic cotton. We are committed to have our customers shop in style so we are selling these bags at half the cost. Enjoy the market." Mark (How's that for a nice anniversary souvenir!)

From the Sosnickis:

"Ben will still be bringing some storage bell peppers, and the most flavourful spinach along with lots of our usual fall veg. I'm cooking again, so I'll be sending Ben with a cooler full of PEROGIES! Coming in two weeks will be sauerkraut and other prepared foods using our crops." Jessie

(Perogies!--another reason to celebrate!)

More good news:

From Jonathan Forbes: This week there will be the last of this year's fresh chestnuts and a few paw paw!

Ute Zell will have fresh goat this week.

Serena is going to be doing a little Beretta survey and will hand out free bison sausage as a reward for completing it. Specials this time are: Spicy Italian Sausages, Stewing beef, and Sirloin tip roasts.

Except for Angelos, now busy in Greece, the rest of the gang should be there too.

Come celebrate with us!
