Dufferin Grove Park public meeting Sunday Sept 30, 4 pm, e-mail to park friends

I want to let you know that CELOS is sponsoring an open-air public meeting on Sept.30 at 4 pm, near the cob cafe, or in the rink house if the weather is bad. The question on the table is -- do park users want the park to be set up as a "conservancy" with an equal partnership between community and city?

At the moment the people at city hall seem to think that I'm an army of one. If not many people come to the meeting, it will prove management right. I'm glad to retire! If lots of people come, we'll keep on working.

In the September newsletter (here), the issue of replacing the solid existing rink and clubhouse with new structures (budgeted cost so far about $4 million debt funding including design work) shows just one of the reasons for a conservancy. If the construction goes ahead, most of the programs at the park will be closed for 1 - 2 years.

A sketch of how a local park conservancy might be structured is here.

I've started a public comments page -- do you have any comment for me to put up from you?

Best,

Jutta
