"There have been a rash of break ins on Havelock St. These tend to be through back doors, side basement windows etc. The last few have been middle of the day on Sunday when it was obvious that the occupants had gone out for an outing.

We were broken into while away for 3 hours between 2 and 5 (likely between 2 and 3) on Sunday October 19. The same happened to a resident down the street and unsuccessfully to another resident, and earlier in the summer to yet another one. We appear to be watched from the park and the surrounding neighbourhood to scope out when we are leaving. The police said there were some more. As much as it pains us, we are now installing bars on basement windows and a security system (they really wiped us out). We luckily were insured, my friend down the street was not, reducing 5 years of working and furnishing to zero.

Anyone seeing people carrying computer or stereo equipment 2 sundays ago should contact the police. Please encourage neighbours to politely challenge strangers who seem to be loitering or casing the houses and to report such activities to the police and to each other."
