Nov.10, 2017: from Councillor Ana Bailao's newsletter: the Dufferin Grove change meeting

From Jutta: On November 10, City Councillor Ana Bailao’s Ward 18 newsletter included an announcement of a public information meeting on November 24, about Dufferin Grove Park. It said that “the City of Toronto has identified an opportunity to improve the north-west corner of the park where the clubhouse, ice rink, Zamboni garage, community garden and bake oven are located.” Already two days before, I had got an e-mailed invitation sent out to “stakeholders” for a one-to-one chat with someone from the firm, called LURA, that the city has hired to manage discussions of the potential changes.

The expertise of the people in LURA, according to their website, includes having “successfully integrated behavioural change principles and social marketing techniques into community planning processes,” specializing “in both market-based solutions and community-based behaviour change mechanisms,” and being a “seasoned thought leader,” or a “strategic systems-thinker [who] uses appreciative inquiry methods to establish integrity and trust in process participants.”
