Market notes for last week and this week are not here because the market manager is at a markets conference in Barcelona. The notes will resume next week (April 2).

Weekly Market Notes for March 12, 2015

Hello Market Friends:

I might be a tiny bit over-optimistic, but the warm sunny days and chilly nights we've been having are classic Sap Season weather, and when the sap starts running, we're headed for you-know-what! You can bet that Blythe from Spade & Spoon and Seth from Forbes Wild Foods, our maple syrup suppliers, will be keeping close tabs on this year's maple syrup crop, and making the world a better place for pancakes.

Another excellent sign of spring is the return of Ben Sosnicki to market this week, with home-grown and well-stored potatoes, carrots, onions, beets and cabbage. Jessie wrote to confirm: "Ben is grading out a fresh load for Dufferin and he'll see you there! Happy Spring!! And happy to be back!!"

Best Baa will be absent, returning next time.

Do you know people who might be interested in these positions?

ChocoSol is looking for 2 assistant rooftop gardeners this season. More info here: https://chocosoltraders.files.wordpress.com/2015/03/chocosoilassistantjobdescription.pdf

Country Meadows Gardens (Angelos Kapelaris) is looking for a Saturday morning market representative with their own car. Speak to Angelos at the market or email lindakap@rogers.com.

It's such a treat to be planning for a milder market day, with sunset not til twenty past seven, so you can stroll home in the light! Say goodbye to cabin fever, and come on out to say hello to your food producers and neighbours at Dufferin Grove.

See you at the market!

Anne Freeman
