Award-winning musician Ken Whiteley celebrates the release of his new recording for children titled "Join the Band" with a matinee family concert set for April 29, at the Al Green Theatre at the Miles Nadal JCC at Bloor and Spadina.

Joining him will be musical friends Bucky Berger (drums, percussion), George Koller (bass, vocals), Kathryn Moses (flute, saxes, vocals), Sarah McElcheran (trumpet, percussion) and as well as some surprises.

Whiteley has been at the forefront of children's music in North America for many years. He co-produced the first seven Raffi albums for children which have now sold over six million copies in North America, and has produced over 60 different recordings of children's music including Juno winners for Fred Penner and Al Simmons. He also produced the Nancy Cassidy KidSongs series for Klutz Press, which have sold two million copies.

Whiteley's been nominated for six Juno awards and received awards from the American Library Association as well as a Parents Choice Award and a Children's Music Web Award.

The new CD, "Join the Band" features a different instrument on each song - and Whiteley himself plays twenty different instruments on the recording, as well as writing almost all the songs.
