Custodians:
Fire permit/Special Event Permit for Sunday April 30. Maypole, music, everyone welcome to celebrate Beltane (May 1).
Request, April 22 2006:
Response from Jaime Mccaig, permits: 5/8/2006

I am in receipt of your application. The date of the event on your application you have requested is April 30th. I assume you mean May 30th. As it states on our Application the minimum notice to apply for a Special Event is 6 weeks minimum so unfortunately we will not be able to process your application. As well we only accept applications from Non-Profit or Charitable organizations. You indicated no on both. Thanks Jaime Jaime McCaig, permit office, Special events, 416-338-2614

Response May 9, 2006

:Maysan please call me regarding this. We need to make sure that groups are following the six week deadline. Tino.

Response, May 9, 2006

Regarding the Special Event Permit below – Unfortunately a lot of the groups having permits are not used to having to do the documentation and sometimes contact us only a week in advance. This will change as groups get used to having to apply for permits in the future. You can let Jamie know that this event has already passed. Mayssan

Okay, so here's a new one I didn't take in before. Wow! Jaime says that unincorporated groups cannot hold any special events in a park. Tino, is this correct? Neighbourhood groups can't have a special event? Please clarify.....Jutta

Response, May 10, 2006

the attached document should help you out. Tino

Response, May 11, 2006

As far as I can see, the attachment does not make any mention of the policy Jaime is referring to. Please send the right document. Jutta

Response May 11, 2006

see attached, I think the first page was missing. Tino. Permit Regulations PDF

Response May 12, 2006

Thanks. Yes, a page was missing from the previous version you sent me. The page you added suggests that Jaime's information was incorrect. A quote from the list of groups eligible for permits (my italics): Community Service programs or events local in nature to the benefit of residents of the city of Toronto; I can understand Jaime's confusion, since the grammar in the document is odd.

Or is there another page missing, on which Jaime based his rejection? (Good grief, what a bunch of time this takes) Jutta
