July 12, 2023, from Skylar to Carol Pasternak

The workshop you did yesterday was wonderful and exceeded our expectations.

Thank you so much for your energy, organization, engagement with the children and the ultimate Monarch butterflies education.

June 22, 2023, Skylar to rec staff:

The DGP Garden Co-op is presenting a Butterfly workshop in July. We would like to offer this free workshop to the City of Toronto summer camp kids 6-12 years old.

We are wondering if Tuesday July 11 (10-11:30am) works for your summer camp program when the kids come to Dufferin Grove Park for pizza making day?

June 21, 2023, from Skylar to Amy:

Yesterday, at Dan's Tables, garden volunteers cleaned up, realigned the long tables and put down fresh wood chips. So, it should look good for our Bee event today.

This afternoon I will be at Dan's Tables at 3:30 to set up table cloths and make sure the area is clean.

Giveaways: 1. There will be 20 small sunflowers in pots to give away.
2. There will be seed perennial 'bombs' to give away in small envelopes. (I made them for another event a year ago).
3. The Rusty-Patch Bee drawing & info to give to children to take home and color.

You are bringing:
20 copies of the scavenger hunt
20 copies of the Rusty-Bumble Bee drawing

June 20, 2023, Clement to the dufferingrovefriends listserv

The Dufferin Grove Park Garden Co-op got a TO Pollinator Grant for 2023! They're planting a pollinator garden near Dan's Tables, the picnic area just south of the DG community centre reconstruction. At 4:30 pm I'll be talking about pollinators. Thanks to the kindness of a DG-area world master of bees, I'll have amazing local and world bee specimens to show. Around 5pm, we'll switch to activities - lots of ways for kids to run around the park and have fun. Maybe your kids could make a seed ball or be in the treasure hunt?

Tomorrow is the Summer Solstice, the official start of summer. Indigenous groups and communities have celebrated their culture and heritage on June 21 or around then because of the significance of the summer solstice as the longest day of the year. So, it's National Indigenous Peoples Day! We'll acknowledge that and have some indigenous history stories.

The third week of June is International Pollinator Week - so our solstice fun is perfectly timed. Drop by and celebrate the start of a new pollinator garden, Summer Solstice, National Indigenous People's Day, and Pollinator week with us!
